So… here it is: the freshly finished – mixed, mastered and pressed – firstborn. Just holding the physical copy of un in my hands is nothing short of a bewildering experience for me – how in the world did I get from pretending to be Slash in front of the mirror to… this?
This is a record I’ve been formulating in my mind since at least 2006 (and one could say that in some form or another, for even longer), so you can imagine I’m as anxious as anyone to already have the album out. That being said, although the record is now officially done, it won’t be officially released until early next year. Timing – as I am learning – is crucial when it comes to album releases.
The album’s Finnish release date has now been confirmed to be 25 January 2013, and it will be distributed nationally through Töölön Musiikkitukku, who deal directly with every single record store in Finland, so wherever you are, you can order the album from your local record store. In Helsinki, at least the legendary Digelius Music will carry it, as will Eronen, so please don’t be shy about pestering them in advance already.
As a reminder, the US release of un will be month later, on 26 Feb 2013, and it will be available through CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon and directly through my website.
Regardless, the time between now and the release dates is nothing if not busy. We’re working to generate interest in the press and the public, booking shows, organizing promotional material, rehearsing, and we’ll be doing several preview shows during the fall to warm us up for the release. I’m hoping that we’ll be on the road in Finland in early February – still finalizing details so don’t hold me to that just yet- and continue to play shows on the East Coast in the US starting in March.
The first full-track online preview of the album will come in the form of “Serpentine” in mid-November, with more previews – audio and video – to follow. Meanwhile, please spread the word, and enjoy the preview collage I put out not too long ago. For those of you who haven’t yet heard it, here it is again:
